All in God's plan

Only God Heals

            Only three days had passed after God rescued His children from the Egyptians at the Red Sea. Moses was leading them through the wilderness, and they had only found a brackish pond of water to drink from. The people already forgot about the miracles that their Creator had wrought and began whining, telling Moses that they wanted to return to Egypt.

            Through Moses, God miraculously transforms the pond to fresh water, and then He speaks through him, to remind the people of the ways that they can thrive by keeping a right relationship with their Maker:

“If you will carefully obey the LORD your God, do what is right in his sight, pay attention to his commands, and keep all his statutes, I will not inflict any illnesses on you that I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” Ex. 15:26 CSB

            Take note of the last sentence. Jehovah is our healer. It takes the spark of life to heal. Drugs will not heal without life, and even the care from doctors must work with that life; and their skill in doing so is exponentially improved if you pray for God to assist them in their intervention.

Only God heals. He is the author and maintainer of all life:

…the LORD God formed [that is, created the body of] man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit]. Gn. 2:7 AMP

He (Jesus) is the exact living image [the essential manifestation of the unseen God]…For by Him all things were created…and exist through Him [that is, by His activity] and for Him. Col. 1:15, 16. AMP

Going back to the first scripture, Jehovah is also telling us that healing will only take place if we do our best to keep being related to Him in His way.

            God knows what is best for us. When we take our focus off of Him, we lose that bond with Jehovah. Jesus describes people in His time on earth, who did that very thing:

“For this people’s heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back – and I would heal them.” Mt. 13:15 CSB

            Lest we think it’s too late to get a healing, due to our behavior, we must never forget the loving, forgiving grace of our God:

“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chr. 7:14 NKJV

“I have heard your prayers; I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you.” 2 Kin. 20:5 NASB

            God loves you so much that even when you stray from Him, He will attempt to nudge you (without violating your free will), back in His direction. Sometimes that nudging is painful, but in the end, you will be healed if you return to your Father:

“For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.” Job 5:18 NASB

            Moreover, God heals you on a variety of fronts:

‘Behold, [in the restored Jerusalem] I will bring to it health and healing, and will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability) and truth.’ Jer. 33:6 AMP

            Sounds like a scripture to pray for the entire earth at this time, when the adversary is running wild.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Ps. 147:3 NASB

“My wayward children,” says the LORD, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” Jer. 3:22 NLT

            So, God heals your flesh, your spiritual heart, and your lapses in faith – healing you in body, in relationship, and within your divine connection. Only God heals, even when you’re not aware of it:

“I taught Ephraim (Israel) to walk, taking them by their arms; but they did not know that I healed them. I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them.” Hos. 11:3, 4. NKJV

            What God does for His children in the past, He will do for you.

            Jehovah heals you through His Son:

And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Mt. 12:15 NKJV

            (However, I’m sure that you have been in a situation where it doesn’t seem that God healed you or someone else. It begs the question ‘Why?’ I believe that each and every member of humankind is here for an allotted time, to complete God’s purpose in them. If you are a child of God, and there is a point in time where you can’t see the healing, rest assured that God will bring you to an eternal healing with Him.             Why does God heal? Because He cherishes you. Just look at the depth of His love:

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Ps. 103:2-5. ESV

            God’s love for you is boundless. He created you whole, and that’s the way He wants to keep you. When something chips away at your health, heart, peace, joy or faith, turn to your Father in heaven and He will shower you with His healing love…

A Devilish Indoctrination

We saw that the immortal Adam and Eve were placed in an idyllic world. In this paradise, God gave them only one admonition:

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely (unconditionally) eat [the fruit] from every tree of the garden; but only of the tree of the knowledge (recognition) of good and evil you shall not eat, otherwise on the day that you eat from it, you shall most certainly die [because of your disobedience].” Gn. 2:16 AMP

Why this rule? The obvious reason is because it was true; eating of the fruit would result in death. However, I believe that the primary reason was to give them an opportunity to exercise their free will, making the choice to obey God. 

This is important to understand, because Jehovah God and His Son both measure our efforts to love them, by our labors to obey Them:

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Jn. 14:15 NASB

So, choosing to obey is choosing to love. It must be a free-will choice, because conscripted love is not love; it is an obligation. God is only about true love…

Things were going great in the Garden, until Eve received a visitation from Satan himself. 

Satan, the devil, the dragon, Lucifer, the adversary, is an angel – a rebellious lying angel. To lie, is to sin. Thus, Satan is an evil angel. Yet, God is 100% goodness; He cannot create evil. What this imputes then, is that angels have free will as well. 

“He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Jn. 8:44 ESV

The devil begins his enticements through his devilish indoctrination:

“Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden?” Gn. 3:1 ESV

Satan is purposely misquoting God, (Jehovah did not say that they could not eat from all the trees). This was to both confuse and sow seeds of doubt in Eve’s understanding of the accuracy of the word of God.

Eve corrects the fallen angel by pointing out that the only forbidden tree was that of the knowledge of good and evil. The devil responds:

“You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God.” Gn. 3:4, 5. ESV

Satan is calling God a liar. He is also lying about the outcome of what he’s suggesting, because in fact, they do die – making him an accomplice to murder. 

This is what I call the devils ‘Big Lie;’ and at the core of that falsehood, where he promises Eve that she would be like God, is the suggestion that she was missing something. Satan was appealing to the desire of her flesh, a desire that was already stirred up by her consideration of it.

Eve partook, as well as Adam, in the co-commission of the ‘original sin’ – and the change was instantaneous. They were acutely aware of their sin nature, feeling shame over the corruption of their nakedness, and plagued with fear over the possibility that God might reject them (Gn. 3:10).

Okay, you know all of this; but let’s consider just how devastating the consequences of this act was, both for them and all of humankind that would ever live:

It led to self-rejection, because they accepted the Big Lie that there was something missing from how God created them, inferring that they were inadequate. They had chosen to exercise their new-found sin expression of pride, grasping for something they didn’t have (which was the knowledge of evil; they already had the knowledge of good). 

And so, they became something less, because they were formerly perfect as God made them. Now, they would die in the flesh – cutting themselves off from God because sin cannot coexist with righteousness.

This sinful taint is passed vertically through all successive generations, robbing all people of the original paradise, the gift of immortality, our direct love connection with God, and of the peace and freedom from the anxiety, guilt and shame that accompanies living a sinless life.

It was the beginning of all human suffering, at the hands of themselves. Man shifted his relationship with God from one of love, to one based upon fear and shame – stemming from their disobedience. What results is that humankind suffers from an indelible imprint upon their souls that would have them believe that God will not accept them. 

The Big Lie is the devil’s masterpiece, because in the end, many were infected with the final evolvement of that lie – a belief that they are unacceptable and / or unlovable. This drives an unrelenting cycle of fear and shame that perpetuates our transgressions against God: 

Man is afraid that God does not love him; so, he acts contrary to God’s word, hoping it will bring some temporary relief to his flesh, to ease his spiritual pain. Shame kicks in, and he tries to bury it in addictions or obsessions, until he feels that he’s done enough penance – whereupon he rinses and repeats.

This is the corrupted Adam and Eve that resides in you as well. 

A relationship with Jesus is the only way out…

In spite of the great magnitude of sin committed by Adam and Eve, God exercised His first recorded act of magnanimous mercy:

And the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), knowing how to distinguish between] good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand and take from the tree of life as well, and eat [its fruit], and live [in this fallen, sinful condition] forever” – therefore the LORD God sent Adam away from the Garden of Eden, to till and cultivate the ground from which he was taken. Gn. 3:22, 23. AMP

God clothed Adam and Eve in animal skins, (which would have necessitated killing the animals, also providing blood atonement for their sin), and He put them out of the garden. It was a merciful act – preventing them from eating from the tree of life, which would have restored their immortality, but in their fallen state. That would of resulted in them being separated from God forever.

Instead, He provided a potential pathway of salvation for them, (and all of us), through Jesus Christ, so that we may return to Him forever in that eternal paradise…

What God Had in Mind

You were not meant to have an unsatisfying life of stress, anxiety, overwhelming challenges, or, lack of love. That is not what God had in mind for you. How do we know that? Because God Himself tells us…

In the beginning God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth. Gn. 1:1 AMP

God continued by creating (in sequence) land masses, plants, marine life, birds and land animals (Gn. 1:6 – 25). During that process, Jehovah tells us that everything He generated was good. 

What is God doing here? He is creating a universe for you. Then, He began fine-tuning it, to give you an optimum environment. God stabilized the orbit of the earth, making it unusually circular, so the climate would be moderate. 

He isolated the earth in a relatively remote part of our galaxy, so that we would not suffer catastrophic harm from comets, asteroids, black holes, etc.

God also tilted the axis of the earth with respect to the sun, so that we would have seasons; and placed the sun and the earth at an optimum distance from each other, so that we would not burn or freeze. He gave us a moon to slow the earth’s rotation, so that we would not suffer from continual hurricane winds. Jehovah also shrouded our planet with the Van Allen Radiation Belt, to shield us from harmful gamma rays.

Our Creator then altered plant and animal life until it suited you perfectly for sustenance. 

Why? Because He loves you – even before you took your first breath:

We love, because He first loved us. 1 Jn. 4:19 AMP

Jehovah created you last – not because you were an afterthought, but because you were the crown of God’s creation:

Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth”…male and female He created them. Gn. 1:26, 27. AMP

And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]…” Gn. 1:28 AMP

Perfect, peaceful and self-sustaining was this paradise, this Garden of Eden, where God lovingly planted them (Gn. 2:15). 

So, who was this ‘Adam?’ He (and Eve) were created in Divine love. He was fashioned as a man who instantly knew that love, and willingly obeyed the Source of it. Adam was meant to be a ‘son of God’ – living in complete harmony with his Creator. In fact, Adam’s sole source of love, intelligence and wisdom was God Himself. Adam saw the world through his Father’s eyes.

Adam was god-like, swimming in the very thoughts of God. He was immortal and possessed the world and all that was in it. God created Eve to be the same. Both were intended to live together, forever, in bliss and in direct communion with Jehovah God.

Adam and Eve were you. It’s what God had in mind…
